I went to the tent city across the street from the Presidential Palace a couple weeks back and snapped this shot of the palace, now broken. As I was at the gate, wondering what it would be like if something like this had happen to the White House, a little boy walked up to me and cheerfully said “Palais Kraze!”, or “The Palace has collapsed!”
Because ‘Kraze’ is the word I’ve heard used for our old house, I understood and answered “Wi” (because that is one of five Creole words I know [which is actually kinda French…]). The child then stuck out his hand and proceeded to tell me, “Give me my one dollar!” My response to that? “You give ME one dollar!” His response…running away.
Editor’s Note: IT’S BACK!!!! In an effort to prevent myself from going crazy, I am forcing myself to take more pictures again and will be starting the “Picture of the Day” segment again. You can leave your requests in the jar on the piano.
